And here is the situation:-
This design in both software & hardware has been finished about 5-years ago.
And the product has been launched onto the market about 5-years.
And the product has been returned from the customers from time to time within last 5-years. Mainly are RS-485 hardware problem.
1.
>1-!1-node cannot receive signal from the network.

Solution; Change the RS-485 chip and OK.

>The whole network not working.
l
SoSolution; find and isolate the “dead” node and, whole network is working again. The “dead” node working again after the RS-485 had been changed.
3.
>The whole network is “burning”:-
l
All the RS-485 chips on the network have temperature (about 45C) after power-up. And after about 3-4 months, almost the RS-485 chips are burning and the whole network is not working.

Solution:- Again, change all the RS-485 chips and network is working.

The hardware design has been and the situation must better.
l
Add Tx/Rx auto-switching.
l
Add signal isolation.
l
Add electricity isolation.
l
Disadvantage; too expensive. And not enough node number.
