Philips’ one-chip TEF690x car radio ICs combine FM/AM tuner, stereo decoder, weak signal processing, RDS/RBDS demodulator (optional) and audio processing. They also feature integrated variable bandwidth IF filter and automatic bandwidth control algorithm (PACS) which can be easily adapted via the I2C bus, thus offering high flexibility to the radio maker. Audio signal processing allows flexible source selection, volume, balance, fader and inaudible tuning mute. The devices can be controlled via the 400 kHz fast-mode I2C bus and include autonomous tuning functions for easy control without critical microcontroller timing.

rate converter, pre-amp and laser driver. An integrated ARM7TDMI-S microprocessor handles all radio software as well as CD control enabling the use of low-cost microcontroller for user interface functions.
