Abstract
This paper provides guidelines forapplication developers to follow so that digital video (DV) editingapplications can interface with the IEEE 1394and universal serial bus (USB) DV devices. For the most part, busdifferences are hidden from the application. Where differences wereunavoidable, this paper describes the mechanisms and interfaces that will allowthe application to discover and compensate for the bus-specificimplementations.
