Qualcomm QCA9880 is a highly integrated wireless local area network (WLAN) system chip (SoC) 5 GHz 802.1ac or 2.4/5 GHz 802.11n WLAN application. The QCA9880 integrates an onboard CPU for low-level WLAN physical layer (PHY) and RF space flow, and is used for wireless applications, requiring the highest reliable link quality and maximum range. It also integrates multi protocol MAC, PHY, analog digital/digital analog converter (ADC/DAC), 3x3 MIMO wireless transmitter and PCI Express interface with low power consumption.
The QCA9880 implements half duplex OFDM, CCK and DSSS PHY, and supports 1.3 GBps 802.11ac 80 mhz channel operations. It supports 802.11n to 216.7 Mbps 20 mhz and 450 Mbps 40 MHz channel options, and IEEE 802.11a/b/g data rate. Additional features include Maximum Likelihood (ML) decoding, Low Density Local Check (LDPC), Maximum Proportional Consolidation (MRC), Spac Time Block Code (STBC), and On Chip One Time Programming Memory (OTP) to eliminate the need for external flash memory and further reduce the cost of external component counts and BOMs. The QCA9880 supports 802.11i security, Rx/Tx filtering, error recovery, and 802. Service quality assurance.
The QCA9880 supports up to three simultaneous traffic flows and integrates three Tx and three Rx chains to achieve high capacity and expanded coverage. The Tx chain combines PHY in phase (I) and quadrature (Q) signals, converts them into the required frequency, and drives RF signals to multiple antennas. The Rx chain uses an integrated architecture. The frequency synthesizer supports the 1-MHz step to match the frequency defined in the IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n specification. QCA9880 supports the transmission of frame data to the host through the PCIE interface, and provides the host with interrupt generation and report, power saving and status report. Other external interfaces include EEPROM and GPIOs.

Qualcomm Atheros QCA9882 is a highly integrated wireless local area network (WLAN) system on chip (SoC) for 5 GHz 802.11ac or 2.4/5 GHz 802.11n WLAN applications. QCA9882 integrates an onboard CPU for the lower layer settings of the wireless LAN physical layer (PHY) and RF to alleviate other tasks of the host processor. It supports high-performance 2x2 MIMO with two spatial streams for wireless applications requiring the highest robust link quality and maximum throughput and range. QCA9882 integrates multi protocol mac, phy, analog digital/digital analog converter (adc/dac), 2x2 mimo transceiver and PCIExpress interface. It is applicable to all CMOS devices and is used for low power consumption and small size applications.

It supports 802.11n up to 150Mbps, 20MHz and 300Mbps for 40MHz channel operation and IEEE802.11a/b/g data rate. Memory eliminates the need for external flash memory and further reduces the count of external components and BOM costs. QCA9882 supports 802.11 wireless MAC protocol, 802.11i security, Rx/Tx filtering, error recovery, and 802.11e quality of service (QoS).
