WIFI6E moudle-QCN9074+WiFi6  MT7915-support 2.4GHz and 5GHz-M.2-MINI PCIE how to choose?
At present, WiFi moudle is becoming more and more important in the demand of WiFi solution. Many projects need to support more frequency bands to connect more clients and better data transmission.
In WiFi6, there are many chips that can meet the needs of industrial projects. Let's take a look at the differences between Qualcomm and MTK chips, and how to choose two different chips.
Both the QCN9074 and MT7915 chips support the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequency bands, which are required for standard Wi-Fi routers and access points. These two frequency bands have different uses in different application scenarios:

2.4GHz frequency band:
Wide coverage: The 2.4GHz signal has a relatively wider propagation range and can penetrate some obstacles. It is suitable for areas with large coverage, such as outdoors, large offices, warehouses, etc.
Device Compatibility: The 2.4GHz band is widely used in many older devices, so more devices connect on this band.
Interference: Since the 2.4GHz frequency band is used by many devices (such as microwave ovens, Bluetooth devices, etc.), it may receive more interference, which will affect network performance.
5GHz frequency band:
Faster speeds: The 5GHz band typically has greater bandwidth, so it can offer higher network speeds. This is very important for bandwidth-intensive applications such as HD video streaming, online gaming, etc.
Less interference: There are fewer devices on the 5GHz band, so there is less interference and more stable network performance when working on this band.
Suitable for crowded environments: In high-density environments, such as densely populated residential areas or offices, using the 5GHz band can reduce interference and provide better network performance.
Both QCN9074 and MT7915 chips are Wi-Fi chips that support different Wi-Fi technologies and standards. Here are some common Wi-Fi technologies they might use:
Wi-Fi technologies and features that QCN9074 (Qualcomm) may support:
802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6): This is the latest Wi-Fi standard, offering higher speeds, greater capacity, and better performance. It includes technologies such as OFDMA, MU-MIMO, and BSS Coloring, which can provide more efficient data transmission in a crowded network environment.
MU-MIMO (Multi-User Multiple Input Multiple Output): Allows the router to communicate with multiple devices simultaneously, providing better performance and throughput.
OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing Access): The frequency band can be divided into smaller sub-carriers, allowing multiple devices to transmit data at the same time, improving network efficiency.
TWT (Target Wake Time): Used to extend the battery life of the device by waking up the device at a defined time to communicate.
Beamforming: Focuses the signal by adjusting the phase of the antenna signal, improving the stability and speed of the connection.
AX-HE: Provides a more efficient high-efficiency mode to support higher data transmission rates.
As a leader in WiFi solution, Wallys will of course produce and develop WiFi moudles based on the QCN9074 chip. There are many versions, single-band, dual-band, and triple-band for more differentiated customer project needs.
Wi-Fi technologies and features that MT7915 (MediaTek) may support:
802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6): It is also the latest standard of Wi-Fi with similar features, such as OFDMA, MU-MIMO, BSS Coloring, etc.
MU-MIMO: Also allows multiple devices to communicate at the same time, improving network performance.
OFDMA: It also supports dividing the frequency band into subcarriers to improve network efficiency.
Beamforming: Helps increase signal directionality and improve connection stability.
BSS Coloring: Used to reduce interference between adjacent networks and improve network performance.
TWT: Also supports Target Wake Time to extend device battery life.
Wallys produced the DBDC WiFi6 moudle DR7915 based on the MT7915 chip, which supports 2.4G and 5G at the same time, and is very popular with many customers, whether it is for home or business use, it can meet the needs.
As Wi-Fi modules, whether it is QCN9074 or MT7915, they play a key role in Wi-Fi networks, mainly involving the following aspects:
Wireless connection: The Wi-Fi module is the bridge between the device and the wireless network, it is responsible for establishing and maintaining the connection between the device and the Wi-Fi router. This is the basic function of a Wi-Fi network, enabling devices to interconnect with the network through wireless signals.
Data transfer: The Wi-Fi module is responsible for transferring data between the device and the Wi-Fi network. Whether browsing through the Internet, playing online media, downloading or uploading files, all data needs to be transmitted through the Wi-Fi module.
Network performance: The performance of the Wi-Fi module directly affects the speed, stability and coverage of the network. Support for higher speeds, more connected devices, and advanced modem technology can improve network performance and provide a better user experience.
Multi-user support: The Wi-Fi module may support multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) technology, which enables the router to communicate with multiple devices at the same time, improving the throughput and efficiency of the network.
Frequency band management: The Wi-Fi module can operate in 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequency bands, which allows the device to select the most suitable frequency band for the best performance and coverage.
Security: The Wi-Fi module supports different security protocols and encryption technologies to ensure the security of data during transmission and prevent unauthorized access.
Device management: The Wi-Fi module can be integrated with network management software and applications, allowing users to easily configure, monitor and manage connected devices, such as setting network passwords, controlling access rights, etc.
Wireless communication stability: Wi-Fi modules usually support technologies such as beamforming (Beamforming), which can improve signal strength and stability and reduce signal interference by adjusting the directionality of antenna signals.
However, the price difference between the two chips is relatively large. QCN9074 is much cheaper than the MT7915 chip, but there are also many network card projects for the MT7915 chip, and it is more necessary to refer to the project itself to choose the right product.
