Appendix A Questions and answers: IAR EWARM V5.20 and STM32F101xx/STM32F103xx medium-density devices
Q1: How many revisions of the medium-density devices are there? A1: Three revisions have been delivered to customers: Rev. B, Rev. Z and Rev. Y in chronological order (Rev B -> Rev Z -> Rev Y).
Q2: Which revisions have compatibility issues with IAR EWARM V5.20? A2: The compatibility issue is with Rev. B and Rev. Z of medium-density devices.
Q3: How can I tell which revision I am using? A3: The revision letter is on the package. Its location is explained in the product errata sheet.
Q4: Is there any problem with my application developed with the previous version of IAR and previous versions of STM32F101xx/STM32F103xx medium-density devices? A4: No, systems already developed, validated and delivered to the field with previous silicon revisions are not affected.
Q5: Can I still use IAR EWARM V5.20 with Rev. Z or Rev. B of an STM32F101xx/STM32F103xx medium-density device if everything works fine? A5: No, we advise to use only Rev Y with IAR EWARM V5.20.
Q6: What are the STM32F101xx/STM32F103xx medium-density parts currently available? A6: Today, ST produces only Rev. Y devices, which correspond to the latest silicon revision. Some distributors may still have stocks of previous revisions, but they are smoothly being replaced by Rev. Y devices.
Q7: How am I sure to get only Rev. Y? A7: The e-sampling process is explained at the beginning of the present document (TN0067).
