增益带宽积更多的是用来初步评估放大器针对当前应用是否合适,比如我要把一个10MHz的正弦信号放大10倍,那理论上需要最低的增益带宽积就是100MHz,实际选用运放的时候增益带宽积一般会大于这个理论最低值不少。而且通常增益越低的情况下,实测出来的增益带宽积会变小(这时候可能有其他条件限制带宽而不是增益带宽积),所以很多放大器标称的增益带宽积(gain-bandwidth product)是大于单位增益带宽(unity gain bandwidth)的。

放大器的增益带宽积(指定为GBWP,GBW,GBP或GB)是放大器带宽和带宽的增益的乘积

对于晶体管而言,电流增益带宽积被称为fT或过渡频率
